Landscape Design

​My perspective has been shaped through more than 25 years immersed in landscape design, construction, growing, and plant knowledge—an understanding cultivated through practice, observation, and a lifelong relationship with the landscape itself.

I grew up rooted in our family’s retail nursery, Green Gardens Nursery, working alongside my father and learning the industry from the ground up. Early exposure to plants, design, installation, and the rhythm of seasonal growth established a lasting foundation—one grounded not only in aesthetics, but in understanding how landscapes live, evolve, and endure over time.

That foundation evolved into building and operating a landscape design, installation, construction, and maintenance firm focused on thoughtfully designed outdoor living environments for high-end residential properties. Our work centered on creating landscapes that extended the architecture of the home beyond its walls—integrating planting, hardscape, lighting, circulation, and spatial composition into cohesive environments designed for both beauty and livability.

Today, we partner in and operate Roadrunner Tree Farm & Casa del Zorro Nursery, cultivating specimen plant material across more than 500 acres in Borrego Springs—a neighboring desert environment to the Coachella Valley. This work has deepened my understanding of how plants respond to climate, scale, structure, soil, and long-term environmental conditions—not simply where they look good, but where they belong and how they perform over time.

Through decades immersed in both the design and growing sides of the industry, I bring a practical and deeply rooted understanding of how landscapes are conceived, built, planted, and ultimately how they settle into place.

I’m drawn to landscapes that feel connected rather than imposed—where architecture, environment, and plant material exist in thoughtful relationship with one another. Through materiality, planting, light, and proportion, my work seeks to create outdoor environments that feel cohesive, restrained, and designed to endure.

This perspective was recently featured in Sunset Magazine, where I spoke on desert-grown trees, climate-responsive planting, and landscapes designed in relationship with place.
